Re: Is it possible to put a FR + locking nut into a guitar?
if you get some higher quality locking tuners and put a graphite nut on with a string retainer bar you wouldn't need a locking nut. as for the trem swapping out with a floyd , i wouldn't count on it . A wilks style trem would more then likley fit and be just as useful. Since the guitar doesn't have ...

Re: Marshall JCM-800
i have tired a couple and was far less then impressed. Each to his own though. If you are going to buy a marshall get something jcm 800 or older. Everything before the 800 is soild stuff, but anything IMO is trash. Especially the dsl tsl 2000 series. The mode 4 was probably one of the worst ones.

Re: Sick of rusting strings
well i use to have that problem no so much anymore but i used wd-40 or this stuff called gt-85 hell even remington gun oil works . stick a cloth under the strings to protect the fretboard and give your strings a light mist of wd-40 then use the cloth to help clean the strings . An old cotton t-shirt...

Re: Axe-Fx Clean's & Sfx
yep fractal audio is catching on . Everyone is using one these days John petrucci, tosin Abasi, jeff Loomis, and many more. The list is growing. Tosin Abasi said he sold all his other gear and now only uses the fractal because he said it can do everything and more than his old gear could . He said h...

Re: Switching necks
there shouldn't be any issues, both are aanj neck joints right? if so then there is absolutly no reason why they wouldn't be a direct swap.

Re: Volume Pot Problem?
well it really isn't hard to replace a pot yourself. If you are trying to increase friction you could try and find a rubber washer that would contact the body and bottom of the knob. The only problem is that some rubbers can have a reaction with certain kinds of finishes , so there is a chance that ...

Re: How is a JEM build?
I have played, seen, felt and setup enough Gibsons to say they are one of worst companies out there as far as consistency between guitars. Most of the ones I have played have had issues with fret dressing and leveling. They also have a problem with the neck joints bubbling causing the action to have...

Re: How is a JEM build?
I have played a few 7vwh s over the years and most have played like crap. They aren't for everyone(some people that play guitar dont like Vai or dont know about him), are expensive and so it takes some time to sell them(limits your market), plus eveyone wants to play one even if they can't afford it...

Re: Marshall JMP-1
the jmp 1 was marshall's longest selling product. They do a great job at covering the typical "glory" Marshall tones up to about a JCM 800. They aren't super high gain but they decent and well made.
pair one up with a mesa 2:50 power amp, and soild 2x12 or 4x12 and you'll have it made.

I recommend you take a look at agile guitars . http://www.rondomusic.com/7string.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; they had a few more models but recently sold out. You can expect to see more fairly quickly. Yes they are cheap, but the quality is amazing. I own one of thier 8 strin...

Re: Guitar Preamp to Power Mixer
If the engl has a voiced output on it(cab simulator) then yes running it into a powered mixer will sound fine if not great. I tested a pod 2.0 into a yamaha emx 312 powered mixer and out of a jbl mrx 525 PA cab. It sounded good, the 2.0 is old technology so i am sure you could get better results usi...

Re: Floyd Rose setup and trem angle. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?
the /I\ setup will give more tension but it seems like it makes the tremelo stiffer , meaning it is harder to do a flutter or things like that.
