Re: Steve - The World's Greatest Living Guitarist?

I have always had a problem with "World's greatest guitarist" type polls. As much as Steve is my favorite guitarist, I could never vote for him (or anyone else) as the "greatest." Music is not a sport to me. It is art. It is craft. Steve is a great craftsmen and a great artist. Art shouldn't be clas...

Re: My Jem won't stay in tune!!

When the trem is off of the guitar, can you move the posts back and forth. If you can, you may have actually forced and compacted the wood around the post bushings. This would allow the bushings to move, creating tuning instability. The correct way to fix this is to have the holes filled with dowels...

Re: Twitter | stevevai: Just got a git from Ibanez that has some

I've always wanted to see something like this..... http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff95/guitzilla/guitars007.jpg Just in case you feel the need to play some shred country. Just imagine this with a black stained finish, red pickups and knobs, a maple neck stained red, and black hardware. http://i2...

Re: Where the wild things are on Blu Ray

I added WTWTA to my queue on Netflicks. They are showing it with an "unknown" release date. I hope they get it otherwise, I'll have to wait to see it until i can get it on Blu-ray. I could just watch the previews over and over on Youtube until then.

Re: PIG

I LOVE the piano reductions disc, but thought that Mr. Keneally (sp?) was a little heavy handed on some of the tunes. I hope that if they decide to do another that there will be a little more dynamics. I have huge respect for him for even attempting to perform these songs on a piano. I often play th...

Re: Real Illusions: Reflections

[quote="phos-phoros" I've gotta tell ya, the naked tracks give an entirely new appreciation for the Steve Vai discography.[/quote] I agree. I have developed even more appreciation for him hearing his arrangements in such a "raw" state. I can clearly hear some of the more subtle nuances. I have found...

I just don't understand anyone buying without listening first, unless money is no object. There are few artists that I buy the album without doing some research. Vai is one of them. He has earned my trust in his artistic vision. Even if I dislike a track here or there, I always find enough to make ...

I can just picture Steve slaving in front of a sewing machine trying to get his tour clothes together....not that there's anything wrong with a guy sewing...I sew!

Dtguitar, Thank you for taking the time to critique each track. I think that your spot-on. I was shocked that people were sending in things with production  . I did mine at my friends house. I only had my tele and his looper because he is a bass player. There are some great tracks entered...I...

I think that all guitarists start by emulating their favorite guitarist. I started out wanting to be Ace Frehley. If you saw me in 1983, you would have heard his influence all over my playing....in the early 90's, you would have heard some Vai...now, I sound like myself. I play a Tele style guitar a...

First, Thank you so much for the meet and greet. You were very gracious to allow us this opurtunity! It must be hard to face a long line of people after a long day. The concert was probably my favorite of Steve's that I've been to. As much as I've loved the past Vai bands, this group sounded absolut...

I've listened to Steve since Alcatrazz. I agree with quite a bit of your review. At the time it was the best rock guitar album of all time. It's still holds up amazingly well when listeneing with my "2007 ears." The only track I dislike would be "Alien Water Kiss" which is strange because I love "Th...
