Re: Steve's "swirl" paint job.

I believe one of the keys that is being forgotten here is that you must ad Borax to the water in order to help the paint float on top of the water and to better adhere to the guitar. It keeps the pain from dispersing and allows it to stick together when you are dipping the guitar. Every article I ha...

Re: Twitter | stevevai: Just got a git from Ibanez that has

This tremelo system is amazing. Is is half string through bridge and half Floyd Rose. It strings through the back like a standard Fender trem would do but has the fine tuners like a Floyd Rose system. There are some other things that make it kind of unique but those are the main things. The coolest ...

Re: Need new tubes for Peavey XXX Head

Don't buy Groove Tubes. Nothing wrong with Groove Tubes. I've had them in my Mesa/Boogie and they sound awesome. Peavey's tube that they originally put in the preamp were much higher gain than the GT's I later put in. Peavey doesn't make tubes, neither does GT except for their own line of 6L6. It a...

Re: Need new tubes for Peavey XXX Head

Don't buy Groove Tubes. I have an original Peavey Rockmaster Preamp, which a lot of their later amps were based off of when it comes to the preamp section. I remember the first time I saw a 5150, I was like, this is my Rockmaster and my Peavey Classic 50/50 poweramp put together, except with 6L6's o...

Re: Keeley DS1 sounds like crap thru legacy

Steve did use the keeley ds1 for a long while- but most recently he used just an old japanese early 80s boss ds1 there is so much more to Steve's tone than just an amp guitar and a few pedals ABSOLUTELY! That is why Steve sounds like Steve on ANY amp he has used throughout his career. Whether it wa...

Re: When will we HEAR the Legacy II???

The clip from Youtube is pretty good. It DEFINITELY sounds different than the original Legacy, much more "Marshallish" and British. However, it is still very clean sounding on the lead channel. The second, higher gain clean channel acutally sounds pretty cool I think. It could be used well by puttin...

Re: scalloped neck

It could just be the lighting. Obviously, you can tell that the last four frets are definitely scalloped, but it does kind of looks like the frets above that are casting a slight shadow on the neck that may hint that they are scalloped as well. It is very hard to tell and I wouldn't put a definitive...

Re: what fernandes sustainer's does steve use?

Ok, never mind. I just looked it up on the Fernades FAQ site. You can use a number of other pickups in the bridge position with the FSK-401 system including Dimarzio, Duncans, EMG's (which they use 81's in the bridge on a number of guitars with the 401). So, that makes since as to why FLO still has ...

Re: what fernandes sustainer's does steve use?

If Steve is using the 401 Sustainer, then how does he still have an Evo pickup in the bridge position of FLO? The FSK-401 package has a humbucker that you are supposed to install along with the single coil driver because the humbucker runs the driver or visa versa (they work together). I just wanted...

Re: Wanting to change out some pickups....

Thanks everyone for the info. I definitely want to eventually get a "better" guitar but techinically the LTD I have right now is very tight. I guess I got one of the good ones because I have been playing for 21 years, owned USA BC Rich's, a couple of Jackson Soloists (the last and best one of which ...

Wanting to change out some pickups....

Okay, I am not sure if this has been posted on the forum before, I searched but didn't find exactly what I was looking for. I have an ESP/LTD M-400 with two EMG-81's (b/n). I like the guitar, it is a neck-thru/set-neck, nice action, etc. However, I want to put a Dimarzio Cruiser along with a Fernand...

Re: LNG Jem on Guitar World Magazine cover

Actually on page 55 of the new GW, the double page spread of Steve holding the LNG; you can actually kind of make out the LACS logo on the back of the headstock. I think anyway. I may be wrong, but that is what I thought when I looked at it. I knew when I saw the guitar that it was WAYYY to clean to...
