I don't doubt the 'realness' of the video. The picking seems to match up with the tempo, so...
Insanely fast, that. Nothing much else to say, really. :?

Well, a lot of electronica is based around using samples, like Portishead or Massive Attack and even Prodigy. I think if you're creative and use a sample to spruce things up or to simply add another layer of sound. I've played around with samples from various types of ethnic musics and whilst I'd ne...

One thing I'm trying to do with my own playing is adopting certain phrases from Indian and Chinese music, from instruments like the Erhu, the Koto, the Sitar and the Arabian violin. Phrases played on these instruments often include wide bends and quick little 'nudges'. Incorporatin these on the guit...

I like Mustaine, but more as a Rhythm guitarist. For Megadeth I really prefer Marty Friedman's solos, but then he's one of my faves anyways.

Re: Another 'Fast Guitarist'

Sorry to post such a thread-I hate all the speed stuff that some seem to be obsessed about, but (here it comes) I saw this amusing video on MSN http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THXCi3H3NzM So he picks about 5.3 times per second at his final 'record breaking attempt' (320bpm!). Doesn't seem that fast ...

I heard one of his songs on the radio and thought he was just another pop-musician (a good one, tho) but then I heard his album this summer and yeah, I was pretty impressed. Good songs and nice, tasty, melodic solos. I'm gonna get his album, I tink. Nice music to relax to, and as someone mentioned e...

I think Eddie's tone was great till he got the Music Man guitar with the neck pickup. I guess that was For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge. Tho that one had really good leads, too. Balance had one or two really good leads as well, but after that I don't really like his playing as much as the older stuff. ...

I am suprised that no one mentioned Mattias Eklundh. This guy reminds me alot of Vai in the way his playing is quirky and interesting, but he realy doesn't sound like Vai. He definitely doesn't. The sense of humour is similar, but Mattias' sound is so differnet and uniquely his. He's deffo my fave ...

I think you should just do the kind of picking technique that suits you the best. I change how I hold the pick according to what I'm playing. When I'm doing lots of tapping and sweeping, I prefer to hold the pick between my thumb and middle finger, to allow for tapping with my index (which I've alwa...

He's definitely one of the most technically versatile and accomplished guitarists I've ever seen. I'm not that into his music or his playing, but he can play just about anything and he makes my jaw drop. A lot.

I'm glad he's getting this kinda of recognition.

It's gonna be hard to do that with a whammy bar, tho. The bends are sometimes pretty wide here, and sometimes the players start on a 'depressed' not before bringing it up, in perfect pitch. Try doing that with a whammy! Still, I do a lot of this kinda thing on the guitar, so maybe with some ...

I'm a terrible speed-picker, hehe. I can sound ok with a lot of distortion, doing some fast three-notes per string run, but doing neoclassical stuff with string skipping and all that stuff kills me. So I don't do it, hehe. Also, I've got one of those pinkies that just doesn't wanna seperate itself f...

Buckley was a f-ing genius so I'll recommend him to anyone, regardless of what kind of music or instrument you play/listen to. Absolutely one of my absolute idols as far as music is concerned. Now, about DT. I LOVE DT! I saw them in Oslo last year and it was the most awesome concert I've ever been t...

I want one!

I does sound spiritual, yeah. Oh, and I just LOVE the fast little bass fills Billy does on that one. And the main guitar melody thing is really nice too. The solo's got that 'I'm so full of joy I think I'm gonna burst'-feeling to it, which I like. It's like something is threatening to spill the cup,...
