Rg421

I am looking at picking up one of these. Mahogany body, maple neck, hard tail bridge etc is just about what I would build as a sig axe. How are the pickups in these? What would you put in them? I play an l3 or couple of mooer preamps into the power amp in on that amp.

Re: RIP Carvin

https://www.guitarplayer.com/gear/namm-2018-carvin-audio-is-back-announces-x1-all-tube-guitar-preamp-pedal The new preamp pedal is NOT the Legacy one.... We will see where they go with this but I am not seeing this ending well... $400-$500 dollars can get you a lot of performance in a pedal. I am n...

Carvin Comments?

Has Steve commented on the Carvin situation anywhere? He has his amps and it doesn't necessarily mean beans to him but he has been associated with them for a long time. I would have thought a brief eulogy would be in the works if nothing else.

Re: RIP Carvin

I keep seeing they are "closing the factory". That does not necessarily mean closing up shop. Are they just moving the manufacturing elsewhere?

I am also surprised there has been no statement from Steve on this. It's a pretty significant business impact.

Re: New Carvin Legacy....

Yes a new amp designed with Vai and for the Legacy line is coming soon. I bet with a bigger price tag too over the L3. Not a lot of info out there on it though. I've been using an older V3 for a while now. Really like it. Just finally bought a Legacy 3 yesterday. Only 4 months old. It's being shipp...

Re: RIP Carvin

I keep seeing Orange amps in the various vids from his studio. If he doesn't just use the Fractal Stuff my money would be on Orange. All that said, his amps will continue to work just fine and that new pedal into about anything with el34's will work also. The pedal was such a non sequitor, I wonder ...

Re: Rig Update

Lol, yep its all a conspiracy for you to buy more L3s. Its not conspiracy, its business and it happens everyday in every business out there.. You do what you have to to protect the image. Protect the brand. I would expect the Site Admin and anyone else working for Mr Vai would have been instr...

Re: Rig Update

this is perfect. I'd also say in general I have some room to talk in all this because... I am an endorsed artist from many of the brands mentioned above... DiMarzio, Morley Pedals, TC Electronic, Fernandes Guitars, Fractal Audio Systems...So I know how things work. (although I'd use all of the stuf...

Re: Rig Update

I can see, quite easily, how some folk find the whole thing a bit weird. At one point, Steve was promoting his distortion pedal, which he said was amazing.......then he promotes a new amp and say the distortion on it is so good that you "don't need" a distortion pedal. That, quite frankly, is sligh...

Re: Rig Update

It's not that cut and dry I dont think. I look at it like this... A company approached Steve (or any other endorsee) to create a pedal/amp/guitar/window scraper. At that point in time it fits his needs perfectly. After a while, needs may change. He may want a different type of sweep on the wah, a w...

Re: Rig Update

Yeah TC Electronics knows who Petrucci is- and don't know who I am... In fact they've treaded me pretty shitty at Namm talking to them too... I've seen Musiciansfriend have better deals on gear than my pricing... and I sold all my TC gear on ebay But everything does vary... Most companies nowadays ...

Re: Rig Update

It's not him... it's Carvin- they're a business and want to sell more amps and make more money... All the companies evolve/put more products our/change things up- try to make more money- sell more gear. He never used the Legacy II- he designed it with Carvin but kept using what he was using... gave...
