Alcatrazz Live in Japan DVD

I am, as we speak, watching a DVD a friend of mine loaned me of a professionally filmed concert from Japan of Steve, as side-kick to Graham Bonnet, back in his Alcatrazz days. I have to say I'm more than a little confused and a little disappointed. I'd appreciate anyone who knows more about this "Po...

Heads Up

Mike Keneally's GREAT website also has a streaming radio station which is playing some absolutly stunning, uplifting and utterly joyous music. I'm sure this is not news to the Zappa litterate members of this forum but if, like me, you don't avidly follow ex-Zappa members with the exception of Mister...

My two cents

When the preview clips of Real Illusions first appeared on Sony artists mini site I posted some pretty negative comments here about them, and Steve in general. While I generally stand by my view that Steve is no longer a truly vital electric guitarist, there can be no doubt in my mind, having now re...

I'm more than a little upset with myself for expecting something totally off-the-wall and different from Steve when the sound clips appear to confirm this is yet another big reverb, synth pad, ego-fest with little in the way of the actual guitar playing style that made Steve who he is. I love the g...

Further to my last comments. Having just watched (by mistake) one of the million "music" channels on satelite TV over here in the UK, can I just add one thing. Thank God for Steve Vai and Mike Keneally!

Hey guys, I've been away for a while, working over Christmas and New Year - but I'd thought it was time to pop back in for a while just to say how glad I am that my copy of Reductions finally arrived. I'm guessing but I'd say the fact that it came to England via Sweden had something to do with the h...

Mikey. The Jem given to Prince?

I see from the guitar gear gallery that Steve gave a Jem to Prince. Was this done in person or a gift via Ibanez? If it was done in person can you give away any nuggets of info. on what they spoke about with each other and is a collaboration at all likely?

Jim.

With all respect to you I have to admit to being shocked and as it happens a little sad that Robert Fripp's music is a mystery to anyone. I'm almost certain that without some of the truly jaw dropping music that he has made, and continues to make both as a solo artist and in his capacity as founder ...

Re: What went WRONG between Billy Sheehan and the other guys

I have just read this on an Italian guitar magazine, in an interview with Billy Sheehan, I try to translate it in English: ------------------------------------------------------------------ Now let’s talk about your Live activities: how did the G3 tour go? Billy: “Not very well…” But… musically? Bi...

I saw an interview with Prince once where he said he does not subscribe to any particular religion, so I would guess that he hoped you would find something profound and touching in the literature worth rather more than a name scribbled on a piece of paper, in the same way you don't have to be a Chr...

Hey that's good you finally got your dvd. 4 months is a long time to wait. Though it came out on the 27th of Feb didn't it? Maybe it's different in Canada. I also bought the Prince dvd last week. Though it was quite short compared to the concert. I got to see him in Edmonton on that tour. It was ve...

I'm moved to tears

After waiting almost 4 months for amazon.co.uk to get their act together and deliver my G3 Live with Satriani and Yngwie DVD I am writing with genuine tears of joy in my eyes and love for music in my heart at finally having experienced this unique concert video. Steve is just absolutely flying - lit...
