Sound Theories/Aching Hunger scores

Mikey, will the full orchestral scores of the pieces on the new album and DVD be available after the release of the projects? I'm studying Contemporary Music at university, and the new pieces will (from what I've heard) make excellent subjects for analysis, plus it'd be great to play a "classical" V...

Jemini pedal

I read in an interview with Steve recently that he's developing a peal with Ibanez. Any news?

Sorry if ya haven't received it yet, I'll try sending it again this weekend. And you can't buy it, whoever asked that question, cos it's out of print, and has been for about 20 years.

I think you mean the Frank Zappa Guitar Book. I have it in PDF format, but it's 15MB, so my Hotmail account won't let me email it to you. I'll see if I can email it from my college account, I think that should work.

If you look on evilBay, there's a Japanese full score book of RI:R that apparently has the orchestral parts in it. I know some of the guys from the forum have bought it, maybe they could confirm this?

Yeah, heard that too. Good on ya Russ! I think we should petition him to play more Zappa and Vai, let's get Stevie in the mainstream! If Wossy can play Bowie every week, let's get Brand playing Zappa. He also played some Jeff Buckley the other week, and it was something off "Sketches..." too, so wel...

I can't stand him, it's just like nonsense
Same, I just don't get why people rate him. I've heard beginners make more musical sounds than that guy does the vast majority of the time. Seems that Victor got the talent in that family.

What a guy. I might just do that, ask him why he didn't cover metric modulation in his programme on rhythm :D

Love 'em. I went through a period of listening to Zeppelin almost exclusively about 4 years ago, got all the albums, DVDs etc, and let's face it, no-one rocks more than the Zep. All hail Jimmy Page, das Riffmeister. The great thing was that all the band members separately were incredible musicians, ...

Yeah, it's a cool programme. He's great at putting across the more complex points of music theory in a way that even idiots can understand it. His explanation of polyrhythms was very impressive, helped me explain to a student how Zappa and Stravinsky are alike! Shame he's lost his cool perm though! ...

The style is for me the most important aspect of Steve's playing. The phrasing, the articulation, and the sense of melody and tonality are all things that need to be studied carefully for a full and satisfying performance, as with any composer's work. There are a few quirky things Steve does (the sl...
