Michael Hedges

Changing the subject slightly, I'd like to bring up the late great Michael Hedges. I've been submerging myself into all forms of acoustic guitar (paco de lucia, peppy, scott tenant, andrew york, michael hedges, john mclaughlin). I recently got a Hill Classical guitar and made a point to get a Santa ...

steve mentioned in guitar world a few years back, that one of his most embarassing moments on stage was when he fell when he was in the DLR band... So he was on the skyscraper tour and had his triple neck on, and was walking backwards and tripped over some amp cables or something---he said that ther...

O brother.....when I first started reading this, i thought is was a joke....seriously. :? I mean, Its like me listening to a song or two of some random artist, and making full assumptions about how they live. Steve is very spiritual and gives tons of money and such to charity (ever heard of the Make...

Virtuosity is a tool. Not a style. To be considered technically good, or a virtuoso do you have to shred a piece of music all the way through from start to finish? OF COURSE NOT!!!!!! But if someone dosn't do this then he's not considered a virtuoso!!!!...I don't see any sense in that. What Satrian...

I can't agree with you more that Zakk isn't on the same level as Satch....but he still has skill. As for the Pentatonics, yea, I know hes not the fastest...That was an exaggeration. When he sent his demo tape to ozzy in 87' up near the top. If a bunch of companies wanted you to endorse their gear......

Re: satriani - technically good?

J3......what is there to say about you.....hmmm :? I was explaining my viewpoint in a nonconfrontational way. I was trying to give you the honest respect that I would want from anyone else, but it looks like you didn't like it. I was explaining why I thought he wasn't a "HACK." Listen, I've met the ...

Re: satriani - technically good?

LMAO about that!!!!! ZAKK IS A HACK!!! and borderline-mentally-handicapped to boot. He can rock, he writes some pretty good songs, a few good solos here and there, he generally has pretty good tone(for what he's trying to do), but I definitely wouldn't call him a virtuoso--even by the most liberal ...

New Guitar Advice

Well I played a show a couple nights ago and finally decided to sell one of my older guitars. Its just not doing what I want it to do and such. I looking to get a really high quality guitar with some kind of whammy bar-seeing as that is what I am replacing. I've looked at Jems and at JS guitars. The...
