Thomas Nordegg has been Steve's guitar tech for more than a couple decades... I was under the impression that Steve didn't hook-up with Thomas until the UZ tour... :? It might be stretching it a little, but Nordegg used to work with Zappa, and I suppose it could be reasonably inferred that they cou...

I wouldn't touch a powerbrake... The THD is a very high quality piece of equipment. Most definitely go with the Hotplate.

Hey Mikey,, I noticed on at least one of the Mirror top Jems that it had a big peace of Neon Orange tape? What's that all about? Regards, ~A On most of Vai's guitars, he tapes the treble side of the neck humbucker - apparently, he has been quoted as saying that his aggresive playing style always le...

Well, Xavier, obviously Chicago venues suck. You should try Milwaukee or Madison or the Quad cities next time to get the hospitality patrons deserve.... after all, Vai doesn't know what type of venue he is playing at most of the time, he just plays his ass of to give us all he's got. I have been to...

The Bad Horsie Guitar

I noticed at the Chicago show that the Mirror Jem (I don't believe it's the one with light-up LEDs but I can't verify anything) is named "Chu" in the usual spot.

Discuss? :)

Crazy good show. Thanks for the memories. I actually was able to ask for my pass and slipped them my ID at the boxoffice (I'm 18) and they promptly handed me my aftershow pass, even though I was told they were not instructed to let anyone under 21 to the aftershow. Very unfortunately, however, I was...

True-that. I've been able to get a "Whispering a Prayer" type sound with a volume pedal, albeit without some high-order harmonics that come with the sustainer.

It's not so much a technique that Vai might use per-say, but its very fun to play solos through two amps - one on high gain, and the other clean.
