I have to say, I agree with not starting out on an electric. I learned on a steel string acoustic when I started. My playing was better when I moved to electrics because the action on my acoustic was a bear. Learning barre chords on it was brutal. I could barre absolutely anything once I got an elec...

Re: Greatest Guitar Solo Tunes (to play in front of girls)

Hi there, Do You know any really great solo stuff to play in front of girls/parents (my or hers ;) ) on acoustic (for a while, let's focus on that one). I really want to play something really heart touching, that would go through skin color, beliefs, religion and so on. Something, that would touch ...

I used to play a starter SG and had no problems switching to an RG and back and forth in between them. It all depends on what you're playing. The RG is better for keeping your picking hand even for fast licks, and the SG is better for strumming power chords and stuff like that. They both have their ...

If you are into heavier music, then Devin is producing and appearing on a record by a band called Becoming The Archetype.

That's the channel detailing the making of the album. He had a lot of input and I'm told his appearance on it is going to be awesome.

It does. Is the song perhaps Layla, by Eric Clapton?

I reviewed a First Act Lola for a magazine and it was incredible. I sounds just like you'd imagine: part SG, part Les Paul. Extremely well built guitar, and it screamed pinch harmonics like crazy. That's enough to tempt me. It also explained why Tim and James from Underoath have been using them. Th...

First Act Lola

I never really thought of First Act guitars as a serious option for pro level players, but then I spied James of Underoath using a Les-Paul shaped guitar that had enough differences to make it interesting and was eye-catching. At first the headstock shape made me wonder whether it could be a Hagstro...

I happen to be an idiot and bought 11's. It's not totally my fault because I got my guitar off eBay and didn't get an owner's manual with it, but yeah. They use 9's. I readjusted the spring tension screws from the customary 1.4 centimeters to compensate after rearranging the springs from | | | to \ ...

Reclaimer Tabs

I don't know if this is the best place for this, but I'm searching for tabs of the song "Reclaimer" from the Halo Soundtrack Volume 2 that Steve performed on. I haven't been able to find any, and was wondering if somebody here would take up the challenge of tabbing it. I'm horrendous at tabbing, and...

I can't say I approve of his playing style or choice of effects. Even at 170 bpm, his sound was too flat and what you heard most wasn't the actual guitar, but rather the attack of the pick.

The pickguard is an eyesore on all LPs. It'll also get in the way of the trem bar. I'd lose it. Longer scale for the 24 frets? I have a hard time reaching the upper registers as it is. With even more frets I don't know. Blue is cool but why not so you can see the wood through it? And how about a bl...

If my Custom Shop Gibson was actually made in Korea, yeah, I'd be pissed. If my cheapie RG was built in Korea instead of China (or vice versa, can't remember where it was made) it would have no effect on my opinion at all. Why would it be a problem if the Custom Shop was made in a Korean "Custom Sh...

The entire thing was hilarious. The best part was where Steve was like "Screw you" and then other Steve says "You wish." and they both sit there and think about that.

Pedal looks like good stuff, but right now I'm at my full capacity for gear.

I use Big Stubby almost exclusively. I love how thick it is, but that it has a beveled edge for speed and accuracy. It's also a very sharp pick so when you split a harmonic, you can really hear it howl.
