It's a great pattern, at least this way you don't have to memorize tons of sweep patterns every time you learn a Vai song with sweep sections.

I think Ernie Balls are great for sound but tend to break more easy than any other strings I've tried... those were the 10s though, I use 9 now and they seem to be more durable.
