As Robert Conrad said, "Knock this battery off my shoulder, I dare you." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7UwAy1jAjQ Seriously, this battery argument is STOOPID. DC is DC and there is not a chance in hell that Mr. West could pick an Eveready over a Duracell, or a specific type of battery, even 50% of...

Guitaruss, Both the examples you provided are pretty good. The guy in the video is actually a professional concert violinist. Pretty impressive playing, although his outfit is a little too revealing for my taste. Your point about Vai's hands seeming in sync are correct, and the film being sped up so...

Eugene's Bag of Tricks isn't necessarily a difficult piece to play but it is very tough at 147bpm or even 142bpm. Given the fluidity of the performance at this speed I think it is very likely that some studio magic made this performance possible, i.e, speeding up the performance or a lot of takes sp...

Music is more mental than physical. Don't be discouraged in your own playing because someone says they practice 12 hours a day. If you practice one hour a day or one hour every other day, you can still get incredibly good if you learn some theory behind it. Look at music like a language, if learned ...

Below is the link I couldn't recall in a prior post from Thomas Nordegg's Interview http://www.vai.com/tn/gear.html I said the he was not using the 4 Cable method, not that he wasn't using his effects loop. There is a difference. The four cable method (FCM for future reference) is way of connecting ...

I don't think he uses the 4 cable method with the G-System. I believe he simply has it inserted into his effects chain. I recall seeing an article by the engineer who set-up Vai's system (can't remember his name) describing how the G-System was set-up. Maybe someone else recalls that article as well...

i have a quick question, and i don't wanna repeat a topic. i see in the G-system there are multiple effects loops, three to be exact. does this mean i can have three different distortion boxes and switch from one to another while keepin the same digital effects? :? Yes you can have (3) different di...

If you connect a preamp or your head preamp to the insert loop, note that in all factory presets, the insert loop is set to OFF by default. To activate the loop, press EDIT and go to the LOOP meny with the PAGE encoder. Set the INSERT LOOP to ON, Then press MENU and go to the UTILITY menu. In this m...

Here's how I do it. Note the main difference between the example in the previous post is about half way through this bit you are playing a C arpreggio. It helps the flow go a little smoother. When you play the 7 - 9 -10 part on the D Strings, slide from the 9th fret to the 10th fret with your 3rd fi...
