I had this problem as well, except that after the volume dip, buzzing came after every pick attack.
I think what i did was swap out one of the preamp tubes for a new one and all was good again.

As for the humidity issue, i stay in a humid area too, so it should be ok.

Yes he uses a bad horsie which is spring loaded to rock back into position after he releases the pressure on the pedal
