Re: Modes
“Learning scales doesn't mean your solos will necessarily be better“ Yes it does- scales=solo/play better. Simply… here is an example- an amateur guitar player would struggle trying to site read a tab lets say of the middle pretty harmony solo to Metallica Master of Puppets… if they knew their scal...

Re: Modes
I studied orchestration/theory/composition at 2 universities and have done a lot of things guitar wise... WOW!!!!! Scales=solo better… Learning scales doesn't mean your solos will necessarily be better. I've heard a lot of players that spent a lot of time practicing scales and many of their ...

Re: John Petrucci's Rock Discipline
SUPER boring!!! Good luck trying not to all asleep through that one! The exercises are good for your technique, but most aren't very exciting musically. Better to get Gilbert's Intense Rock Complete (I and II together in one DVD).

Re: Peavey Mini Colossal..anyone have one, whats it like?
Make sure to try out the C30 with the JJ power tubes and tube guard pre-installed instead of the usual Sovtek's. Some have them, some don't. I think they are only in the newer (black tolex) versions though...

Re: Peavey Mini Colossal..anyone have one, whats it like?
I played one and was less than impressed. They are overpriced, and have very few features to show for it. Tone is ok at best. http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Peavey-JSX-Mini-Colossal-Guitar-Amp?sku=480777" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; so it is 499, here is what else you ...

Re: Jemini pedal
Hey guys!, I have a quick question about this one. I find that with any distortion pedals I use, I'm never happy with the sound of them when cranked up loud. I'm running an EBMM JP through a JSX head and a Hughes n Kettner cab with greenbacks in it, do you think this pedal at loud volumes will stil...

Not so, according to Dave Weiner:8bigtubes wrote:I would say that 95% of the time, yes he does use a boost for solos.Patill wrote:So does Steve always use an extra amount of gain (like the Jemini, or DS-1 or TS) for solos?
I mean live and for the recordings?
