As far as rhythm players...I have read he has been influenced by EVH & Jimmy Page. As far as rhythmic influence, I would imagine F.Z. having the most impact with some Mahavishnu thrown in for measure.

...This might start a landslide, which could go very inappropriate, if we're not careful... "Better2 is such a subjective thing...for me Jeff Beck just kills it! He's taken it to the point that I dont even think about technique when listening to those beautiful trem-bar melodies. Gets my vote. I do ...

"If you build it they will come." "Big" to a person in their 40's hopefully means something completely different than "big" to your teenage son. (imaginary or not.) I would imagine it is possible, because it is impossible in the current way the music business is run...against the grain, against all ...

IMHO every guitarist needs a library of books. Not too much just varied enough and frequently updated. Some items to have in there are: 1. Technique books. (I'm sure the Govan books are cool...and tech is the most covered aspect of electric guitar playing, so I dont think any one will have trouble i...

Sounds like too much practice... try these: 1. Seriously; lay off the energy drinks. They are poison. Check out where taurine comes from, and see if you can find a drink without this ingedient... 2. go to an art gallery, concert, go see a play, visit an industrial showcase, have a conversation... an...

I went to my "archives" on this one. Guitar World Jan 1990 has Vai saying this: "It was drums and bass and scrap vocals for finished rock songs, and what he (Coverdale) wanted was for me to do anything I wanted-complete carte blanche to do anything I dared imagine." He was discussing how Coverdale f...

I'm not all that adept at the intricacies in the workings of sequencers and such, but a friend showed me what happens when you play something recorded at 44.1 khz and play it back at 48 khz. Oh Ed's solo is in the key he's jamming the whole tune in...just louder :D ...might be he has no keys in the ...

Yeah, that works too. There are so many possibilities out there...a good teacher once told me that the feeling of being uninspired is directly related to being (temporarily) out of focus... "Effortless Mastery" by Kenny Werner is a good read for those uninspired times we all run in to from time to t...
