Allan is one of the greatest musical minds alive and there's NOONE else like him. He has the cover story of this month's Guitar Player and there's a great quote from Steve praising Allan. Steve said something to the regard of Allan's music being "way beyond him" or something to that effect and that ...

Don't get an Ibanez amp. Go to a music store, and have someone play for you through all their amps in your price range....have them show you the sounds they produce. Then, buy the one you like best. I'd pick something like a Roland Micro-cube or the little Vox modeling thing over any Ibanez amp that...

There's no way to know unless you tell us what amp. It might not even have distortion!

Yes....I thought it was the superior disc. I read several professional reviews that stated the same. His compositions are outstanding!

Have you tried one? I thought the other Spiders sucked. This all tube thing completely changed my mind about Line 6.

Line 6/Bogner Spider Valve...

Has anyone else tried one of these things? I've never liked Line 6. Thought at bedroom power levels the Spider II had some nice sounds (mostly the clean and high gain), but sucked as soon as you started turning it up. Plus, the bit of digital latency bugged me a little. But, I'd heard people (people...

It's nowhere near as paradigm shifting as SFAM was for me, but it's pretty good![/color] That might be DT's problem. (and at times Steve's too) They have at times, IMO, set an impossible standard for themselves. I&W, A Change of Seasons (the song), SFAM, and for me Six Degrees (the song/disc) were ...

You know what's weird about SFAM.....I totally didn't get it at first. I was very "blah" about DT after FII and had lost a lot of interest. I picked up SFAM, listened once or twice (not too closely) and that was it. I also read nothing on thenet about it. It took until the LSFNY DVD came out and wit...

Believe me I've listened to it a couple dozen times. Again...nice, but not Dream Theater magic for me. But....what is your take on album vs. album. Which one wins, Octavaruim or Systematic Chaos? Again, I like SC...but if I could replace 2 or maybe 3 songs with tunes from Octavarium it would be a re...

I know, I know. I was disappointed in the song Octavarium from the first listen. It just seemed to ramble on for me several times. It's a pretty good tune, but nothing special for me. (LIke many classic DT songs are) Is Presence of emenies in my top 10 or 20 DT songs? Probably not. But...I'm digging...

I'd include SDOIT in that holy trio too... although that would make it a four.. o... o_O... I consider SDOIT (the song/2nd disc) right up there with Scenes and I&W. Some of their most mature compositional elements in that tune, IMO. OK...I'm curious? What's the verdict on Systematic Chaos vs. Octav...

I think it would be interesting to string it with a High A like Cooley and others do. I really don't have much of a desire to ever go lower than B.
