Re: Dark Matter video
It's working fine now! It went down really well at our Halloween party last night, everybody was asking who it was. Really digging the steampunkiness

Re: Dark Matter video
I'm having the same issue here in the UK. I was able to see it for the first few days, then when I came to show my girlfriend it says it isn't available in my country

Re: NEW STUDIO ALBUM FOR 2018?
Personally I don't really care for a record of just noodling. I think Vai has nothing to prove technically, and I'd much prefer something more compositional like the final instalment of Real Illusions. Alien Love Secrets was a great record, but it has its place imo :ugeek:  I disagree with thi...

Re: A New Sound
Here's the problem with that line of thinking - it assumes that music is mearly timbre based; that is, musical expression is primarily drawn from the 'sound' of the instrument, which is not so. Music can be diotonic, atonal, or a mixture of the two. If you introduce the sound of a bumblebee for Flig...

Re: What is wrong with my amp?
It could be faulty tubes as I believe certain tubes run certain channels.
When you said you 'reinstalled' the tubes did you replace them with new ones? Valve amps should be retubed at least every few years.

Re: NEW STUDIO ALBUM FOR 2018?
I think it was a click-bait headline that caught my eye a few months back about 'Townsend and Vai to Reunite!' or whatever. I remember being excited at the Retinal Circus when Steve came on to the screen. That was such a memorable experience. And at Steve's Story of Light gig he was playing Epicloud...

Re: NEW STUDIO ALBUM FOR 2018?
Well, at least we got Modern Primitive last year. But yeah, this new record can't come soon enough. MP doesn't count, the material's like 30 years old! But seriously, I know there must be a butt-tonne of work going in to creatively restoring old material to be in a releasable state, and I tho...

Re: NEW STUDIO ALBUM FOR 2018?
Vai has a 3-5 year interval between studio albums. Satriani maybe around 2 year interval. And 2018 could be the year for a new album from them both. No pushing, demanding, begging here... just hoping :guitar Satriani always comes up with some new catchy melodies and good songs. From his latest albu...

Re: Well... Let's hear some opinions on The Story Of Light c
Astonishing, awe-inspiring, cinematic, bitter-sweet, intense, poetic, fun, and whimsical. As soon as I heard this album, I was sitting down in a coffee shop as I recall, it totally sent me to a different place entirely. It reminded me of why I was inexplicably drawn to Steve's music in the first pla...

Re: And All My Colours
Yes, Pedro, I agree. The wonderful thing about instrumental music is that it immerses the listener in their own little story, much like a novel. That's one of the reasons I love listening to instrumental music so much, and writing it.

Any thoughts on the new album title? My guess is it's called 'The Story of....' ('Agot'?)

Re: What wah pedal does Steve use in 'For the Love of God'?
There was indeed a list of gear in the P&W tab book. He used a crybaby, though I suspect it would have been customized and quite different to your stock model. I'm not a fan of the dunlops, I find them too harsh and somewhat trebley. I own a Teese wizard wah and a Budda Bud-wah. I've owned Morleys i...

Re: Carvin Legacy II Does Steve even still use them?
Haven't played the JVM, then again I'm not much of a Marshall fan personally. I did like Satriani's tone when he was using the 6100 heads though. I'm not disputing that you need a quality amp to produce a quality tone. I was merely trying to explain why pros use distortion pedals in conjunction with...

Re: I don't like the 'Legacy tone'
Oh, I completely agree his Soldano tone on S&R was great. I even liked his tone back in the flexable years - very raw and unique. His fingers are his ultimate tone producing tool, but I feel I would personally enjoy his tone a lot more if the personification of his notes were being emphasised with a...
