Re: Second attempt at building my own guitar
Great job, that is a really cool looking guitar. You do learn a lot taking apart or building your guitar. I learned so much from ripping my early guitars apart.haha

As it is, Shy Boy's efforts to bring something positive to this forum have been hijacked, which is a damn shame. I'll happily argue Rusty's talent or lack thereof with him. Rants we have had enough of. Shyboy's truly positive all right. It's nice to see a nice friendship develop out of all of this....

… This guy actually got on me for bad grammar? He also misquoted me as the example. Speaking of quotes, you should probably work on yours, NatiFable. That, and your sentences read like html code. This may be vai.com’s message board, but there’s no hiding Steve’s showmanship. Exotic costume changes,...

Listen up. I can and will have my own opinion. My rants are to be read in the 'good buddy' way. I've said it a million times. There are alot of you that really read way to much into what I've written! And y'know, that's your problem, not mine. As if none of you have ever bashed another guitarist!!! ...

The Guitar Dorks: Christophe Godin Goncalo Pereira Dave Martone Rusty Cooley Here we go again... Godin? What a joke, what a hack. Sweeping is fun, because it makes even the most novice player 'think' that he's actually playing something. He's loving the attention isn't he? Someone get an Anvil we c...

They created the illusion of 'toughness' and 'badness' not the fans. That may be so, but I was answering a message from someone who said that their illusions of the band were 'shattered', and I was merely stating that it was important for fans to realise the imprefections and humanity of the idols ...

So by your logic, anyone that wants to play any one of these guitars is some form of copy cat. What brand guitar do you play? Who do you listen too? Or are you a total original? Don't tell me, you have a guitar that you changed the pickups on and now you're able to speak such drivel from your pedes...

Well, I don't think there is anything wrong at all with buying a guitar that your hero, or a guitarist that knows what he's doing, plays/designed, ect. This has been talked about before on this board. http://vai.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1003&highlight= Why would I have any second thoughts about pl...

Re: play with ur volume pot, screw up ur volume pot
You might want to get a chemical spray or even just a tiny drop of 3 in 1 oil and place it in the opening <if there is one, there should be> and turn your volume knob on and off and it will be fine DeOxit or contact cleaner. Never oil a potentiometer. A drop of oil will not mess up a volume or tone...

Vibrato is soooo overlooked and adds so much to your playing. I still to this day can get lost just hitting a note and adding every kind of vibrato I can think of. There are so many combinations it's just incredible. I would start with a non bent note and build up your technique. But I would also ha...
