On October 28, 1997 Atlantic Records released “Angelica”, an incredible modern opera album uniting some of the best sopranos in the world with some great non-opera musicians including Steve Vai, Steve Stevens, Dweezil Zappa, Eric Johnson, David Foster, Clif Magness, and the Boys Choir of Harlem. Steve appears on the legendary “Queen of the Night”, from Mozart’s opera “The Magic Flute”. Created and produced by Clif Magness and executive produced by Carol Baer Sager, it’s a great album that marries two extremely passionate styles of music performed by some of today’s most passionate musicians. Look for it in the Various Artists or Classical Music sections of your local record stores, or order it online from CDNow or Music Blvd!

For those of you who missed the G3 tours, or for those of you who just can’t get enough of that wonderful stuff, Epic Records has released the ‘G3 Live In Concert’ compact disc and home video! While the CD was primarily recorded in Chicago on Nov 1, 1996, the video was recorded the next day in Minneapolis, so you can buy both and get two different shows. Each features three songs from Joe Satriani, 3 from Eric Johnson, and 3 from Steve Vai, as well as 3 songs where all three players jam onstage to covers of Jeff Beck’s “Going Down”, Frank Zappa’s “My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama” (with Steve & Mike Keneally on vocals!) and Jimi Hendrix’s “Red House”. For more info, check out the discography section of this site, which will be updated soon with tons of new info, including Steve’s comments about the making of the record!

We wrapped up our glorious 27 year G3 anniversary tour this weekend in LA. The whole tour was an exceptional life experience. Being on the road with this entourage was like touring in a warm float tank. It was a pleasure beyond measure. Eric Johnson and Joe Satriani never cease to amaze and inspire me with their brilliance and innovation. And to feel them on stage every night trading riffs in our jams was uplifting and exhilarating! On top of all that, they are solid good people and cherished friends.Big time thanks to our crew and management that worked so hard to make it the exceptional experience that it was, and to all the folks that came to enjoy the shows. Your support is humbling🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼Group Photo: Jen RosensteinAll Other Photos: Chris Huber ... See MoreSee Less

The G3 tour is going by too fast! We are truly having a blast. In Reno we were graced by the appearance of the inimitable David Coverdale, leader of Whitesnake/David Coverdale, vocalist extraordinaire, dear brother, and overall massively charming and gifted gentleman that intensely rocks. It was so great to see him. Also, our show in Oakland was strong and the audience was just off the hook. We were joined by great players Vic Johnson and Doug Doppler for the jam. It was nice to feel those other players on stage and watch them tear it up so beautifully.Doug is an ol’ friend that I’ve known since the early days of my arrival in Los Angeles in the 80’s. Besides being a key component to the oversight and success of the Vai Academy camps, he’s a powerful player. Check out his “Nu Instrumental” record. ... See MoreSee Less
