Vai-athlon
professionally scheduled one but had the same miles as what is
commonly known as a 70.3.
1.2 mile swim
56 mile bike
13.1 mile run
Ouch!!!
I would not consider myself to be in exceptional athletic condition
but I got through it. It took 4 months of training to prepare. I go
at a very slow pace. It took almost 10 hours to complete.
The feeling of acomplishment is indescribable. Organic euphoria?
I highly recommend it. Most people could do it if they went about it
with logic, practicality and fierce determination.
They're sacrifices to make, (such as completing editing on a live
DVD), but its good to live life outside of the studio now and then,
and get some physical mojo goin on.
Did I say Ouch?

That's awesome, congratulations. Ouch, indeed.
I've never engaged in triathletics myself, but as a former swimmer, I've always thought swimming legs were too short. A 1.2-mi swim might take me 20 minutes while a 13.1-mi run would take me at least 2 hours, probably far more after the biking leg. Maybe I'm not meant to be a land animal.

Congratulations,Steve!
I admire for your diligence.
Thought I've thought I also had to get myself into shape, I don't like exercise.
Maybe I should follow your example.
