Track 10
“I’m Your Secrets”
Additional Percussion: Jeremy Colson and Gregg Bissonette
How The Song Came About:
All through the year I capture little tidbits of ideas in the form
of riffs, keyboard hits, vocal meanderings etc. etc. etc. whenever they
come up and I have the means to capture them. I have been doing this
since I was 10 years old and have stuff that dates back to 1970 when
I was playing the accordion, before the guitar was even a twinkle in
my eye. What a tiny sounding voice I had back then. The pieces are anywhere
between 5 seconds and, hmmm… maybe 20 minutes at the most. Some
of it has potential and some of it’s crap.
It’s usually the week between Christmas and New Year that I go
through all this stuff and archive it into my Trash DAT Library. At this
time I am up to DAT # 49. The DATs are 2 hours each. This does not include
the stuff I have recorded in the vault. Not too obsessed, ay?
Sometimes I pull things from the library and develop them into tracks. I’m
Your Secrets is one of them.
Lyrics:
Take my hand
Look into my eyes
Tell me what you see
Because the eyes never lie
And all that you’ve ever done
And everything you ever knew
And in every dream you’ll ever have
I’m there with you
Tell me everything you can
’Cause I am the one who will understand
I am all of your fantasy,
yeah yeah
And after all, it’s just you and me
I’m Your Secrets
And when you hurt from the weight of the world
There’s nothing I wouldn’t
do
And on the day you leave the world
I go with you
Tell me again about endless love, yeah yeah
The talk with the sun and
the moon and stars
What do you think about God and man, yeah yeah
Tell me the thing no one
would understand
’Cause I’m Your Secrets
You ask is love a lie
And is the world insane
Why do we cry
And is this life really just a dream
Tell me everything you can, yeah yeah
I am the one who will understand
you
I am all that you wish to be, yeah yeah
It’s always been just you
and me
’Cause I’m Your Secrets
What Was I Thinking:
The album liner notes:
“Her fervent wish was to have someone that she could tell all
about herself. Her “everything” would be known and understood.
“Very well,” Pamposh said, “and you will be granted this.” She
was directed to the waters of her being. There behind the cherry petals came
the answer to her implorations.”
Additional Story Info: In the place known as “Under it All” there
exists a pond known as the "waters of your being." It can reflect things, or
out of it can come various things once you look into it. There are no defenses
one can have against it’s reflections because what it sees is the truth. When
she gazed into it, from it came the manifestation, in physical form, her inner
most everything.
Recording It:
We gathered a bunch of nice percussion things then Jeremy and Greg went into
the studio and we built the track.
The vocals are heavily layered. I think there are 15 or so vocal tracks I did.
Instruments Used:
Ibanez Euphoria Acoustic
Carivin Electric Acoustic
Choral Sitar
SV Comment:
There goes Mr. Lydian again.
There is something very sweet about this song. Although the melody is
relatively unorthodox, it’s very melodic and sing-able. My first
thought when it came time to putting this song on the record was that
most people, when hearing the intro for the first time, will expect an
electric guitar melody to come in and for one brief moment I thought
about doing that, then I reminded myself that that’s
not what this record is about.
I’m always thrilled when I get an idea and then make it real and
it turns out better than I expected. It’s an honor to be able to
do this.
This song was about capturing a warm place and becoming a part of it.
I welcome you to join me there.
You only get one first listen, enjoy it.
