light and Sound

#1 Post by weberd6BGXSU » Tue May 06, 2003 10:31 pm

I have - and thoroughly enjoy - Vai's somewhat recent album "The Elusive Light and Sound Vol. 1". My question is: will there be a volume 2? or 3!?

It seems like there's some confusion going on here. As far as I know, the next 2 box set cds will be "Archives vol. 3" and "4". "Archives vol. 2", that is the Zappa record, is the only Archive cd that came with the box set. "Archives vol. 1" is, in fact, the 7th song cd, released before the box set.

Therefore, I don't think "The Elusive Light and Sound Vol. 2" will come out until Vai has recorded some more music for movies.

I hope I cleared something up

Or perhaps I'm the one who is most confused?

Steve said on jemsite...

Yes, they are all done and ready to go. The only problem is securing the licenses. This is tremendously complex, time consuming and expensive as my attornies need to contact all the owners of the masters and negotiate. Some of them want more money than the CD will make but I'm willing to make that sacrifice becuase I like the idea of having this stuff compiled on a few CD's.
It's changing a bit but hold tight. I'm shooting for a January release on vai.com but It's all subject to the completion of the master licensing agreements.
The plan is to make them available on vai.com for a limited run and then eventually make them available in a very limited number at retail. The reason I do this is because some people can't get is any other way than to go to a store and buy it.
The only 2 CD's that are in the box that will not be available outside the box is Archives Vo. 2 (Frank Zappa) and The Alcatrazz "Distrubing the Peace" CD....

Looking forward to the Fool For Your Lovin' (Vai Voltage Mix). I hope it won't melt my speakers.
