What's my 'guilty pleasure'?... The thing is, I never feel guilty about pleasures.

Snow in Georgia? Oh yes! Near 2 inches of soft powdery snow, icicles hanging from the roof, and the sky slowly brightening from grey to pale pale blue.
Birds by the dozens are lively spots of fluttering red, yellow, grey/blue and shades of chestnut and auburn. Puffed up so round to keep warm at the feeder and as they kick back the snow... 7 chipping sparrows on the window sill beside me right now, even!
It's quiet, pretty and peaceful in this little neighbourhood.

So grateful to be right here, right now, in this rare Georgia snow.Image

Time is your most precious gift because you only have a set amount of it. You can make more money, but you can't make more time. When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your life that you'll never get back. Your time is your life. That is why the greatest gift you can ever give someone is your time.
-Rick Warren

This is why I am always so thankful, so grateful to anyone who gives their time without even a second thought.
Time to check in on a friend or neighbour. Time to help out a total stranger. Even if it's only a moment of time, time to hold the door open, hold the elevator, let someone merge in in heavy traffic. Or take a moment to give a smile to someone you've never met... in passing at the grocery store
...or by signing an autograph for someone who couldn't be at that show... (Steve, Fire, I'm looking at you guys!)
Time is precious. When you give of your time, or when someone gives you their time, it truly is a gift. Treasure those moments.

Haters never win. I just think that's true about life, because negative energy always costs in the end.

Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by it's ability to climb a tree, it will live it's whole life believing that it is stupid.

When times get hard, the best thing in the world is a close friend you can lean on.
Next time you get with that friend in your life, give them the biggest hug.
Remind them just how awesome they are, and how grateful you are to have them.

Oh hon, you have no idea how deep that touched!
I'm in tears right now, it was just what I needed to see.
Anything is possible, still. And I'll cling to that, unless I hear otherwise.

Thank you so much Image
Much love, big hugs Image

Never ever loose hope, never ever stop believing. There's always something, if you just keep looking. Even when it looks so bad, it can get better. You just gotta hang on to that. You gotta hang on to something.
Hope is Healing

Okay, so y'all may be wondering what's going on, that caused me a bit of a "happiness challenge"...
Well, I got news that no one wants to hear about family. My father was diagnosed with late-stage pancreatic cancer. That had already spread elsewhere. Not a good candidate for surgery, and treatment didn't look like it would give him much more time.

 :|

With that on your mind, happy is hard. Hope is hard. Maintaining the 'attitude of gratitude' is HARD.

But...
They got a second opinion, and... while the diagnosis is the same, this doctor's attitude, energy, and creativity is a LOT better. He had ideas for pain management, treatment options the first guy hadn't mentioned, and a lot of hope and reason for my parents to believe. :) It really is kind of astonishing the difference one's attitude can make. Particularly when delivering some really serious/bad news. If you go in sour and depressing, it spreads. If you go in with hope and ideas, that spreads, too!

And... just to kind of put a point on it... Hope and believing, it can be everywhere, and if you have strength enough to accept it, it can make such a difference.
Quokka's post came right before my folks got that second opinion! (thank you again, sweetie!)

Never ever ever give up hope. Never ever ever stop believing. That energy goes out there, and brings like energy to you.
Also, tell your family and loved ones how much you love them. If saying is hard, send a card or give a small token that would be meaningful to them. Same for your friends. Let 'em know how special they are and how much you cherish them.

So... that's why I've been a bit off my usual.
That was hard to take in.
Still dealing with it (and the flu! ugh!)
But with Hope, I'm feeling stronger.

I love you peoples :)
Thanks for being awesome.

Once you choose hope, anything's possible.

When the world says, "Give up,"
Hope whispers, "Try it one more time."
