Hi, I was wondering since I'll be going to my first Vai concert in a couple of months how loud is it? Do I need some sort of hearing protection?

The one I went to was pretty loud. Like, feel it vibrate the floor and drums were thudding against your chest, feel the very air electric loud.
I like it loud, I like when the music is something you can hear and feel... and I get to so few concerts ( :( ) that it's not a worry for me.

My ears did 'ring' a bit after the show...
There were some people there with those squishy foamy ear plugs, might not be a bad idea.

When I saw him last year it actually wasn't too loud, just right I'd say....but I remember seeing him on the RI tour and that show was just painfully loud.

I think Steve's shows are always a bit too loud. I'll always remember the first time I saw him solo in a Toronto club on the Sex & Religion tour. My nostrils were vibrating with each bass drum hit. I generally bring the squishy ear plugs.
