Legacy I Question

#1 Post by dave_777 » Sun Dec 09, 2012 6:35 pm

Is it possible to get kind of a JCM800 rock tone from a Legacy I from playing with the EQ contols?

Sort of, you can get the crunch, but it will be a "darker" version of that tone.

low gain and high master on the distortion channel will get you the basic JCM800 sound

BUT when cranked/with tube screamer you wont get a modded or cranked jcm800 sound- its much more smooth and mellow tone

If you want a regular clean JCM800, a dirty JCM800 and the gain of a plexi= MARSHALL DSL

Thanks guys.

I do love the warm, smooth, modern overdrive of my Legacy. But sometimes I want a slightly more 'classic' rock sound. I'll keep playing with the eq searching for different tones.

its not high gain and when it is overdriven its not the tasty kind of metal tone you may want

its really smooth

it also has wattage select so you can crank it for that cranked sound at reasonable volumes

if you want a cheap high gain amp- 5150

but you don't get ANY clean channel on a 5150/6505 doesn't exist

The Legacy clean is the best part of it

Overall if you want a MARSHALLY LEGACY sound id use it clean with a Boss DS-1
