OK, I admit that's happened to me before. Not very nice to tune it though.djhollowman wrote:If the string breaks at the trem you can unlock the nut, take a wind or so back out of the string, and reclamp it in the saddle. I've seen me doing that in an emergency, like if I have no spare strings (which is pretty unusual I admit, but it has happened!)Desert_Runner wrote:Sorry, I really don't get that. On a guitar with a locking tremolo, if you break a string, the whole guitar goes out of tune, whereas on a hard tail it stays in tune. Also, to be honest, you should keep a spare set of strings with you anyway, and its a lot quicker to restring a hardtail than a locking trem.

that´s what I tried to say. Ibanez is fixing that with some kind of new "Edge Zero" or something, so it stays in Tune. Check out the new RG-Models. So the T---could also be Trem or Tune, but what stands H--- for

ah, and I can replace strings on an FR guitar just as fast as my friends can do with their normal guitar. And mine stays in tune, theirs do not

I would like to see a JEM come out with a Trans-Trem. That would be better than a hard tail.

Trans-Trem is a guitar tremolo system developed by Steinberger in 1984. Its main feature is that it keeps the pitches of the strings in proper intervals with each other when the pitch is bent. This allows entire chords to have their pitch bent while remaining in tune, whereas a conventional tremolo system would cause the strings to go out of tune with each other. The system also allows the musician to transpose pitch of the guitar as a whole: the pitch of all the strings could be raised or lowered from the standard EADGBE tuning to one of several preset positions. No other tremolo is available with this feature.

It's a great tremelo. I had an opp. to play a steinburger with one and it was very kewl, plus if ya break a string the rest are still in tune like a hard tail.nato101010 wrote:That is a wicked awesome tremolo! I want one.
