Well I´m pretty sure that the fast part in For the love of god is improvised around a bunch of key patterns, as are lots of other Steve Vai songs.

for most people on this board their improvising IS random. because half the guitarist out there just learn little shapes and boxes to solo in and have no clue what its going to sound like before their ignorant fingers stumble across the strings, they just know as long as they can hit one of those dots in the box in the right key they'll be ok.TonyMacalpine wrote:+1. for a real musician this isn't a problem, but as we know, a large part of guitar players out there aren't actually musicians.
I agree. I did that for a long time. Everyone has at some point or another. But a real improviser hears it all first because they relate the notes to the chord and understand the function of the note. And they do this at the speed of light.

His songs are written and he practice them so so so much ,then i think he practices them again and when he is satisfied...he begin to practice them
