Awesome show! Vai was flawless, Satriani was great, Hiland was entertaining, Dweezil was OK (sorry Dweezil fans, but that's my opinion). I had to leave during the auctions so I didn't see the rest...My Loss...

My ears are still ringing from that orgy of guitar! What an amazing night. The show lasted nearly 5hrs!!!! Met some fabulous vai.commers and had the time of my life. Steve opened the show with a song he "hasn't played for 10 years". Tender Surrender literally brought tears to my eyes. Sheila on the sax and keys was the shizznit. My first Giant Balls of Gold was a definite highlight. The encore/closing guitarfest lasted FOREVER! Started with Goin' Down and included favorites such as: Red House, La Grange, My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama, Foxy Lady, Voodoo Child, Rockin in the Free World. And all for a great cause...a complete success!

I just woke up from having the most incredible night of my life. This show was amazing. Steve was absolutely stellar. He opened with "Tender Surrender". I had tears in my eyes. It was incredibly moving. Steve treated us to an incredibe set list...."Building", "Audience", "WAP", "Crying Machine", "Giant balls of gold", "FTLOG" and others. This show ran about 5 hours long. It was absolutely incredible. We were able to witness this extravaganza from the front row. It was off the hook. I will add more later. I'm leaving to head back to Boston tomorrow morning.
Before I leave, I just want to thank Mikey for always being there. You are an amazing person. Also, Steve for just being Steve.
Oh yeah...I also talked with Pia for a while. She is so sweet and down to earth. A wonderful lady!
I will post some pics when I get back home.

Hi... I don't really post here, but maybe some of you will recognize me from satriani.com. I was at the show last night and took pretty decent notes, so I thought I'd copy and paste here part of what I posted on Satch's T2J.

Awesome show!

...Austin...

Steve played from 9 to 10:15 or 10:30, Joe played from about 11:15 until 12 or 12:30ish, and then there was probably close to an hour of G3/4/5/6 jams.

Steve Vai:
- Tender Surrender (SV said he hadn't played this in about 10 years)
- The Audience Is Listening
- Building The Church
- The Crying Machine (with Johnny Hiland)
- Whispering A Prayer
- For The Love Of God
- a Frank Zappa song I recognized but don't know by name (with Dweezil Zappa)
- Giant Balls Of Gold (with Joe Satriani)

Intermission:
- If my late-night math is correct, they auctioned off $21,650 worth of guitars, amps, posters, and other stuff; not including the $26,000 one of SV's guitars went for on Ebay.

Joe Satriani:
- Flying In A Blue Dream
- The Extremist
- Redshift Riders
- Cool #9
- A Cool New Way
- Satch Boogie
- One Robot's Dream (with Paul Gilbert)
- House Full Of Bullets (with Scott Henderson)
- Ice Nine (with Steve Vai)
- Always With Me, Always With You (with Steve Lukather)
- Crowd Chant
- Summer Song

Jams (with no encore break):
JS, SV, SL, PG:
- Going Down
- My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama
- Red House

JS, SV, SL, PG, Johnny A:
- Foxey Lady

JS, SV, SL, JA, SH, Billy Sheehan:
- La Grange (I didn't write this one down in my notes for some reason and I can't remember if PG was there or not...I think he sat this one out)

JS, SV, SL, JA, SH, JH:
- Voodoo Child

JS, SV, SL, PG, JA, JH:
- Keep On Rockin' In The Free World

Amazingly mindblowing and quite exhausting! I actually had to leave early because I lost feeling in my feet. Wouldntyaknowit, I missed Voodoo Child! Damn. Everyone up on stage looked like they were having huge balls of fun. You can't ask for more than that! :guitar

Hey litlgrnman, we were right next to each other the whole night and never knew it!! :headbang Have a safe trip back! It was nice sharing the show with you.

Thanks to Steve for an astonishing evening and for finally playing Tender Surrender. Also Whispering a Prayer will aways hold a large & special place in my heart. I get goose bumps every time.

Much love,
Leslie M.

I only took a few pics with my phone before it died. I did see a few people taking pics with better cameras so hopefully some of those pics will be surfacing once people migrate back home and catch up on some sleep!

I put them in the "phone pics" thread here:
