Built an isobox, exceeded ALL expectations. (+pics,sounds)

I built an iso cab so I could actually track things at home rather than at the studio 90 miles away. Pictures of the thing in various stages of the build are here.

Test sounds are here and here.

Recorded with an Ibanez JS1000, into a Vox Ice9 -> Korg 105od -> Bugera v5 into the Kustom 112 in the isobox (with its stock 30W speaker). The dirty sounds are various combinations of the ODs. The 112 is mic'ed with a Sennheiser e609 silver on axis right in the middle. I love the sound of relatively low gain mic'ed on axis. EQ is flat, there is a hint of mastering compression/limiting on everything.

This has exceeded ALL the expectations I had. With the Bugera dimed, the guitar is louder acoustically than what bleeds thru out of the cab. Recording is now totally viable at 0300, even in my apartment. :D

I will eventually upgrade the speaker to a WGS Vet-30, and will bring my Carvin x100b home this weekend to see how it sounds thru this setup.

looks good. I recently built something a bit different but has noise suppression as one of its goals. It's not as serious as yours as far as isolation goes, but it helps tame my 3w amp for silent late night recording.

Some say that you shouldn't completely close the box because there's no air flow. Take a look at rivera iso cab, they seem to have a good design http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESOrSKGojtg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Any serious recording would happen at the studio anyway. :) And for a ~$90ish experiment, I'm pretty happy with it, haha.
