I built an iso cab so I could actually track things at home rather than at the studio 90 miles away. Pictures of the thing in various stages of the build are here
Test sounds are here
Recorded with an Ibanez JS1000, into a Vox Ice9 -> Korg 105od -> Bugera v5 into the Kustom 112 in the isobox (with its stock 30W speaker). The dirty sounds are various combinations of the ODs. The 112 is mic'ed with a Sennheiser e609 silver on axis right in the middle. I love the sound of relatively low gain mic'ed on axis. EQ is flat, there is a hint of mastering compression/limiting on everything.
This has exceeded ALL the expectations I had. With the Bugera dimed, the guitar is louder acoustically than what bleeds thru out of the cab. Recording is now totally viable at 0300, even in my apartment.
I will eventually upgrade the speaker to a WGS Vet-30, and will bring my Carvin x100b home this weekend to see how it sounds thru this setup.
