Just picked up Steve's Passion & Warfare Wah!!

#1 Post by live2win » Tue Jul 03, 2012 11:15 am

Hey guys, check this out. Awhile ago, I had purchased 2 of Steve Vai's personal rack wahs which he has used since the mid 80s. I just got back from picking them up last night and man it's just barely starting to kick in about how crazy cool this is, haha!

The first one is an EMB Audio Remote Wah. This was a very early version and Steve used it from around 1986/1987-1993ish. This is the wah you hear all over Passion and Warfare, the Whitesnake stuff, and I'm assuming the DLR stuff too.

The other is a Dunlop 1S. This was the FIRST rackwah that Dunlop made and from what I can tell, they didn't really make too many of em. Most people know of the 1SR and obviously the current 2SR offering. I've seen these for awhile but never managed to get ahold of one. Steve had this in his live and studio racks for yeeeears.

Here are a few pix. I sold my 2SR but will probably get another very soon =)

They're his settings for certain songs :) Slip of the tongue, his solo, kittens got claws, etc...

If you're interested, we (EMB Audio) are releasing a brand new redesigned wah soon. We just sold 5 reissues about a month ago.

I'm actually endorsed by Morley and exclusively use their wah pedals...BUT- the EMB would be a studio thing and just a really cool thing to have...

I didn't know you worked for EMB...

They make cool stuff- I remember reading about EMB pedals since I was 13 searching online for what Kirk Hammett uses

I use an axe fx II- it has wah- but i've never actually use its wah- i always plug the guitar into wah then into axe fx... much easier that way so far...

I'll keep an eye out for near gear you have- i look forward to it

Yeah I checked out your youtube stuff, very cool!

We sold 5 Reissue systems and just started delivering them recently. Currently working on the new Redesigned Wah and then AFTER that will most likely be a standalone pedal and then lots of cool control stuff :)
