Channel Strip & Mic Pre's?

#1 Post by Stephen Brown » Wed Apr 23, 2008 2:00 pm

You have a mic pre for mic's & yet a channel strip is used in vocal work & other things. So my question is...

What's the difference between a channel strip & a Mic pre when they roughly do the same thing? (I'm thinking rack gear, not desk)

Thanks for reading.

well ,first the space, second the sound of this certain pre with this certain eq and comp.
In most of the cases on drum for example you've got some gear and some settings and for example certain channel strips play better than a pre with an eq with a comp.
Third channe strips are like a mixer channel in rack version so it'll be more comfortable 'cause you've got everything there in one unit.
My humble opinion

A channel strip has a built in EQ and compressor.
