Hi guys!

I need a overdrive tube preamp for my GH50L, and I've heard that Gainiac 2 would sound great on it...what do you think?

What kind of sound are you after? I wasn't too fond of the Gainiac preamps.

I like a full, warm, fat sound with plenty of gain!

I don't know prices in other countries, but in Croatia, that ENGL costs a bit more than 5000$ :?

And Gainiac 2 is around 300-400$

2000$ here...give or take...

I know that I won't be able to find a perfect preamp for 300-400$, but a friend of mine (whoat one point owned GH50L and Gainiac 2) told me that those two work great together, so I wanted to get some other opinions...

unless that's a common or popular combination between the GH50L and Gainiac, it's unlikely you'll find a ton of people who will of tried it themselves to give you feedback.
If you have similar taste in what you consider good tone as your friend, go pick them up used and see how it sounds. as long as you buy them used, if you don't like the tone you can always resell it and get your money back.
