The wiring is changed to improve the sound, and extra switchs, components or circuitry may be added. Go here, http://www.robetkeeley.com, for more information.

I really like the DS-1 but lately I've been using a modded-tube screamer a bit more. The TS just has that great vibe to it you know?

Anyways, the DS-1 is a great pedal for my tastes at least.

I have a unmodded DS-1 I've had for years that I never used cus it sounded like shit to me.................Then I got my all tube Carvin MTS 3200half stack and tried it again.........Now it sounds soooo beautiful, I fully understand now...........The DS-1 is great for driving the tubes of a tube amp. It does not sound the same with a solidstate!

I run mine through the front of my amp in combination with the lead/sustain channel. I keep the drive turned way down like at 1 or 2 and turn the level up(thats what drives the tubes, the level, not the drive).

So in short, running it through a tube amp is where the saturation is. I just can't get the same sound through a solidstate. But now that I own a quality all tube amp, I love my DS-1!

Steve states on the new Live in Tokyo DVD that he likes to use the DS-1 when he's playing a part on his own, but when he's playing with the full band, he uses the TS. He was saying to Joe how he deosn't like how the DS-1 has too much compression...Satch says he only used the DS-1 o9n one song on the DVD. Hey, I heard Satch is using a Barber Burn Unit now. Apparently, it's a wicked distortion box from what I've heard.

So....What kinda mods are avalible for the do-it-yourselfer. Any info on what I can do with it? It sounds good to me, but most of the distortions on my Boss GT-3 sound just as good, if not better than the DS-1. So I am looking to do some modding but need a lil info!

You'll need a hammer, lighter fluid and some matches. Now................

I think what satch does, is use the ds1 for songs like starry night and cool #9 etc. Cos that pedal, and the ds2 is amazing at getting that soft bluesy tone.. And for say, mind storm, he'd just use his mega peavey distortion.
