I used to have a Rockman by Tom Shultz (sp??) from the band, Boston.
Remember that? The Rockman had some GREAT CRUNCH to it.

Just curious.. what ever happened to "rockman"?
They got bought out by Jim Dunlop, quality suffered, and the brand went bye-bye.
Sad story, eh?
Those old rockman powersoaks are cool, I must get one someday. Probably not as good as a hotplate but if its cool enough for Tom Scholtz, its quite cool enough for me.

I don't know anything about a takeover of the business, but Sholz Research and Design, Tom Sholz' corporate holding company that produced both the Rockman and the Power Soak, was shut down in 1995 amidst Tom's frustration of a continual focus on the bottom line.
Nowadays he uses that big brain of his (he was an MIT grad) to work on stuff that's interesting to him -- I read that one of the things he's working on is a better design for skates, which he referred to as "walking boots from the 1800's with a steel blade stuck on them".
Still, he's got nearly 3 dozen patents to his name and since he's still touring, I'm sure some other inventions may come out -- just not under SRD.
