How can you people as musicians who feel music the way I do believe in nothing, and vice versa? What are your views on religion and how does it affect your lifestyle.
Not believing in a particular god or religion certainly does not mean one believes in nothing. I believe in religion as oracles, enigmas wrapped in mystery that force you to look at things in a different way - similar to a tarot or Yi King reading. I believe gods have real power and do exist, in the collective consciousness of humanity, and remind us there are forces beyond our direct control and immediate comprehension. In a way, my views are very close to that of the great Alan Moore.
I believe that consciousness is an emergent property of matter. I believe that human beings are more sensitive to social pressure than they'd like. I believe in collective intelligence, which in conjunction with the previous point means that we should strive to offer the most kind and intelligent society to ourselves to be our better selves. I believe we're not as good as we'd like to think we are, but we're certainly not half as bad as we fear we are when we despair, individually and collectively. I believe like Terry Pratchett that the most powerful force known to man is the power of stories - we need them as much as we need air, water and food.
I believe music contains a bit of all the above, and vice-versa. I believe music is fucking beautiful.
