It may be the LIZARD DOWN THE THROAT, I don't know, I just know that Steve makes it on Blue Powder and in the end of he fast solo of For The Love Of God.

Steve himself refers to it as a cat purring.

Tremolo flutter....?

That's when you give your whammy bar a little whack, which makes it vibrate really fast.

Sounds pretty darn cool.

lol

Perhaps you are refering to the 'cat purring' at the start of Whitesnakes 'Kittens got claws' that Steve plays over the samples of the cat meows?

It's all guitar. There are no cat samples in that track.

its the same thing like the end of ''tender surrender'' but you must only do it in a high note or string that will give you a really louud and high sound like a ''screaamm''' and make down and up really fastly in you bar.....

Nah... just point the bar down (towards the jack input), hit a note and hit the end of your tremelo bar..that'll make the bridge flutter real quick and you'll get the purring sound.

haven't heard the WS tune, but i'll mention all the cat-sounding tricks i know of...

as already mentioned...
fluttering the whammy (AKA gargling)
Lizard Down the Throat (as in Call It Sleep and Satch's Ice 9 - slide a note up or down a string and simultaneously bend in the opposite direction w/whammy bar, attempting to keep approximately the same pitch.)

and one more... got this out of a book, i think it was a trick of Adrian Belew's...
you'll need a volume pedal for this, and probably a bit of distortion or overdrive too.
1. select your neck pickup.
2. volume pedal at "0" to begin with.
3. tap HARD on the 3rd string just beyond the end of the fretboard with RH finger.
4. (don't waste any time between step 3 and this :P ) slide toward the bridge and simultaneously swell in with the volume pedal.
5. put the volume pedal back to "0" before you release the string so as to avoid any unwanted "pop" or other string noise.

hope that's a good enough explanation.
