APPLY THEM.

learn licks that incorporate those scales, or invent your own.
play the scales in every interval and sequence imaginable.
get some good jam cd's.
look for tunes where the theoretical stuff is applied. learn them.

sorry if you do that already... if not, there's a start.

a great thing u can use to apply these things is the line 6 guitar port.

u hook it up to ure comp, and u can then download tracks from line6 to jam along to. theres TONES of stuff u can do with it aswell as that.

they also took original recordings of songs and got rid of the guitar parts and put em in tab, so u can learn them then jam along tto the rest of the band as if u were that guitarist :).

thers also other things guitar port does, such as lessons, licks of the week, and amp modoling, but for me the jam tracks and original recordings things is most special:) - its taught me tones.

hope this helps

Todd

ps: www.line6.com then go products :)

Might sound wierd but here's a few things:

Try playing with nothing but slides to frets (no lighter or slide though).
Take those scales that you do know, and change notes of them 1 at a time to find other scale possibilities.
Take those chords that you do know, and change notes of them 1 at a time to find other chord possibilities.
Dont play any scales at all - play completely random notes on the neck.
Take a chord shape, and "plane" it (move it in parallel to make melodic ideas out of it).
Use a drumstick instead of a pick (if you have basic drum rudiments, double strokes and triple strokes and such make this cool.)

EASY ANSWER!! Play music instead of scales and chords. Why do we practice in the first place? So we'd get better at PLAYING! Play music. Lots of it. Learn new pieces. Improvise. Play. Preferrably with other musicians. Do some gigging.

If that doesn't give you the kicks you need, then I really doubt that music is your thing.
