I've decided to take this up, am I crazy?
Not sure about the allocation of time to exercises though

I subscribed to Steve's "Lesson" thing back in the 80s and I got this huge packet with his 10 our exercises. I learned all of them, but never did them 10 hours a day. I took all the pieces and just work on them when I am noodling around for a while.

They are great exercises, and they helped my dexterity a lot, but I just cant commit that kind of time in a day.

There was a 30 hour version that came out later. It was meant to be broken up into 3 10 hour sessions.

What is VERY important as Steve Vai himself has pointed out many times is that you have to
find out what is your goal, what is where you want to get. If you want to become a "guitar God", yes you
would have to practice ALOT. But if you only want to play guitar in a rock band, and have some fun
you don't necessary have to practice 10 houres every day. It's really all up to you and what you feel
is your need to become.

i found another exercise which i think is way better(judging from the 10hr piece i have)

its 'Chop Builder' by Frank Gambale, sounds really good too, as well as being a great workout.
its an hour long as well, and goes through scale shapes as well.

oh and it has a wicked intro song...

That lesson is great, thanks for the link.
However it appears to be missing a couple of pages: 83-85, does anyone have those?

Thanks

Dan

Brilliant
Thanks a million
I had a few problems because I believed the message which said I "You can't read private messages" after logging in from the link sent to my hotmail, so I assumed I was blocked.
I then noticed after 3 days that I could simply view your message by finding the thread on the forum (bypassing the direct link).

I don't really understand what all this "you can't..... messages" business is about but I've finally got the article!

Ta

Dan
