thanks, I'm on it

I managed to play it in 130 today, but going faster from there is Really difficult.

btw do you do the arpeggios too? (in the beginning)

130 ! Blimey thats pretty fast !

I do play the arps at the start but i'm concentrating on the really fast bit first..

I guess :P It's hard to stay focused for such a long time.

About the arpeggios, I think they're much harder than the other fast part. And also, I think I'm cheating on two of the arpeggios where I do slides... :( I just can't figure out a good way to play em without slides. (only two slides, the rest is alternate picked and economy picked)

I think you downloaded the same tab as me. I changed the tab a lil though cause I thought there were better ways to play it.

I don't have the right energy to put it up on the internet :(
Add me on msn and I'll send it to you.

I'm probably going to play the high B on the b string 12th fret tho as apposed to the 7th fret on the e string

ok but on the 7th string works very well if you play it with these fingerings:

P - R - P - L - M - P - M - R - P - R - M - P - M - L - P - R

P : Pointing finger. M : Middle finger. R: Ring finger. L: Little finger.

I think most people would agree that it is quite difficult, certainly at the speed Steve vai plays it...

The youtube videos dont sound nailed to me at all..
Yeah its fast, but it sounds like crap.

I agree with Tweezer, those youtube videos were very poor.
The guy didn't play it clean at all.. he can prolly nail it at about 125-130 (perhaps!) but at that tempo it doesn't sound very good at all.

he can prolly do it if he works more on it though!

This is a killer piece and serves as a great introductory to flying arpeggio sequences and things like Paganini's 16th Caprice, which is similar in feel but faster and at least 5x more difficult (if not nigh impossible at speed).

So, if you like this type of playing then you owe it to yourself to give the 16th Caprice a try after you've warmed up with 'Eugene's Trick Bag'.

An added benefit is that after trying to grapple with the 16th at anything even slightly resembling full speed, Steve's piece will appear SOOO much easier and you'll seem to breeze through it.
