problem with pickups

#1 Post by ricardo_impellitteri » Thu Jul 09, 2009 4:23 pm

hi everyone i hope you may help me, i have an ibanez rg270 with a SD jazz model pickup for neck and a Dimarzio DP-161 Steve's special for bridge position, my problem is that i don't like the sound of the single coil in my guitar and i never use it, so i decided to buy an Allparts 3 way blade switch, and i installed it this way:

but the sound has drastically changed, now it's so brilliant i fell like the output has increased when i use my clean settings in my POD XT live, i don't know a shit about electronics so i just tried to do it exactly the same as the diagram, may you help me please!!!!!!!!!!!!

i want that smooth sound that i used to have before but without that single coil, is it posible with that switch?????

Yes.

With the 3 way switch you can do that.

All you have to do is find on the switch were the neck & bridge fit on the terminals. Now that you have taken the middle pickup out you don't need to solder that into the centre postion pins/terminals of the switch.

Should be all fine.

For example:

Here is your switch.

No middle pickup
-----V
-I---O----I
^_______^
Neck-----Bridge

It's much better for you to find a diagram with the wires coloured so you have a better chance of following the pickup install.

Don't forget about the capacitor & values to.

Go to.

Dimarzio>pickups>Steve Special>click "Installation" PDF chart>3 Way switch.

There you will find a chart with the colours for the wires.

Good luck.

If the worst happen take to a tech. Like I did. :D
