Need help choosing pickups

#1 Post by jem7v » Tue Mar 10, 2009 10:53 am

Hi there

I'm looking at getting a Dimarzio Fred for a guitar of mine.
I want a Fred,as i have both a JS 10th & JS 1000 and i know they both have this pickup in the bridge. right??

Now im checking on http://www.musicstore.de/en_EN/IEP" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There seems to be a couple of choices for this pickup
For example--Dimarzio Fred

http://www.musicstore.de/en_EN/IEP/DiMa ... 001531-000" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://www.musicstore.de/en_EN/IEP/DiMa ... 010434-000" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Has anyone any idea what the differance is between the 2,,if there is any

Any info would be greatly appreicated

Also,if im not asking too much could anyone tell me which would be the better choice the Paf Pro or the Paf Joe

Thanks so much
John

"dont forget to get f spaced if its a trem equiped guitar"

Before i made the order i phones them to ask what the differance was between the fred and the fred f spaced,,and he said that the f spaced was for a Fender....is that rubbish.

Because i dont have a fender i did,nt take the f spaced one..i took the other one,,and i plan on putting them into a BC Rich Mockingbird and it does have a floyd rose trem.

Yep, it was rubbish advice, F-spaced is what you want for something with a floyd, it is the same spacing at the bridge as fenders, so I can see the confusion.

Standard or non-F Spaced is for Gibsons and such, with fixed bridges where the string spacing is narrower at the bridge.

For more information on that, take a look at the "F-spacing, Standard Spacing" bit in the FAQ area of http://www.dimarzio.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

tell jens hes a great guy when u ring, he's the only person i could get to talk with when i used musicstore a few times years ago..

f spaced is just for anything with a trem, its mm adjustments to the poles nothing to worry about if its not f spaced.. it does mean "fender spaced" as far as i remember... it occurs more to thebright pup than the neck... but f spaced for anything with a trem..

and i rpefare joes older sound to new, so i was more inclined to get the paf pro and fred..

The guitars you have now have Freds and your changing the pickups in another guitar to freds as well?

Hmmmm..

You know, if you used a different pickup in this guitar you'd have a new and different groove added to your arsenal of toys.

Just a thought..
