Mr. Van Halen Frankenstein replica

#1 Post by Logic » Thu Sep 20, 2007 6:58 pm

You know, I am a Van Halen fan. I like the music. The guitar playing.
Its kewl. Although, you knew this was coming, Fender and EVH have or are getting ready to release a replica guitar. Known as Frankenstien.
I really don't know how much money they are going to want for it but the original that Mr. Van Halen built cost $180.00.

the site
http://www.evhgear.com/frankenstein/#Home

Now, once again I can't say enough about the contrbution to guitar playing Mr. Van Halen has made. But this guitar....
I dunno, someone talk me thru this. I am not trying to be mean...
Help! ......I have to say it.......It looks like junk! Garbage!! Trash!!
There.. I said it. I can only say that Mr VH's playing is what made this ....thing... rock. so help me out here guys. Am I outta line on this..I feel as I am mocking the gods or something.

Musicians Friend has it in-stock and ready to ship. For a mere $25,000.00 USD.

Van Halen was one of the greatest rock bands of the 80s... but this is just cashing in on that success in my opinion. I'd never spend that kind of dough on something like this.

Yeah, the reflectors on the back really get me hot.... hot for....

I dunno, if the market wasn't so dilluted with signature guitars from him. I know the Peavey Wolfgangs are great fiddles... as I'm sure this one is too... drop a couple zero's and you have a deal.

And I thought it was a federal offense to deface American Currency (referring to the quarter that is drilled onto the front).

This is just another cynical marketing manoeuvre from Fender in my opinion. They started with these 'relic' guitars and now this!

Part of the charm of EVH was that fact he produced great music with what looked like a piece of junk! But we have to separate form and function. I bet EVH's original guitar played like a dream, regardless of the way it looked.

I have to agree, it looks like a mess, but it's a piece of history. I much preferred the pristine Kramer version of EVH's guitar.

Didn't they do a similar priced SRV relic a few years ago? I can't seem to find anything on it, but I could swear they did. It was kind of the same deal as the EVH, being an EXACT replica but I don't know. Maybe I just smoked too much pot in my younger days.

I thought Rory Gallagher one was bad. Like Jeff Beck's & Eric Claptons axe from fender, they are top notch.
