Is it even a Vai guitar?

At the very best, it's a entry-level Ibanez that has been appointed with some JEM details.
At it's worst, it could be a complete fake, and not even an Ibanez at all.

I like the this part:

"As you know, china have long history around the world. You can see this item very wonderful. It is a typical art .it is very important and significance for investigating the old Chinese culture. If you win it you will get good lucky. It is rare and good for collection. If you are Chinese items collector, please do not miss so better chance to get it.Enjoying your bidding!

Shipping cost: 178.00GBP"

can't be sure , but that looks like a fake jem, 90% of the fakes come from middle east soi just be sure what your buying, and ibanez sharkfins are'nt as narrow as that lol.

I personally think its a counterfeit.

Ya, it'd be some serious toxic fumes.

There's some tell-tale signs on this fake. Most notable are the fact that this model JEM doesn't exist. However, on the more clever fakes there are some other tell-tale features to look for.

Most notable are the monkey grip, Ibanez logo justification (it isn't on the headstock in correctly). Although, I can only anticipate the counterfeit goods will be better (IOW, more difficult to spot in a photo).

They seem to be inscribing Ibanez on the tremolo and the back of the tuning machines, to add to the authenticity... but at the end of the day it's still counterfeit.

Someone from Hoshino mentioned that there are more counterfeit Ibanez guitars in China than real ones.

The only thing this activity does is bring down the prices (because buyers are more skeptical) of real JEMs and other Ibanez guitars. I've been beating my drum in hopes that Ibanez/Hoshino would do a better job of working with eBay to remove these fakes from the market... but as of now, it still is a "buyer beware" market.

Please visit this page for more information on the information we've gathered on the counterfeit JEMs circulating.

It's not very helpful to have Ibanez work against it on Ebay. (too time consuming, and there are countless sellers anyway).

They need to go straight to the source (and I think that's exactly what they are doing).
