dave mustaine wasnt really in metallica much, and cliff burton/newstead kicks both there asses, i just wanetd to see the main gitarists, hos better, hetfield for me!

When talking about composing music & writing songs...Hetfield is better. When it comes to actual guitar playing Hammett is definetly the better one.

I would probably pick James Hetfield.
He plays a mean solo on nuthin else matters. Proves he can shred.
Kirk is good. But James can play both lead and awesome rythum.
A better guitar player in my book.

Hammet sounds like every other run of the mill metal shredder. Hetfield has got a voice of his own on the guitar.

Hammet knows a few more tricks on the guitar but imo that doesn't make him the better player.
