Songs that you wish you wrote

#1 Post by Ryan Layton » Sat Sep 25, 2004 9:56 am

when listening to music i sometimes hear something really catchy that i just wish i had written. not because its so technically advanced but just because its a fun song that i love to listen to. here are some songs that i wish i had written

some song by the smashing pumpkins. the one that has the clean guitar riff then it stays clean but plays some slightly agressive chords

no such thing by john mayer

a favor house atlantic by coheed and cambria

fire garden suite by mr vai

valsiana by some classical player whos name escapes me.

tango in the sky by some classical player whos name escapes me at the moment

Every Breath You Take. I'd then make $2000 a day in royalties.

I love Prince's tune "Computer Blue"

I'd also love to have written the Fire Garden Suite. (I wrote this before I went back and checked what the other guys' wrote)

Zappa's "Wet T-shirt Night" is one of my fave's as well.

Guys.

If you've heard 'Feathers' on Steve's Mystery tracks archieve CD, first of all you'll be grabbed by the sheer flooring yet subtle melody, THEN you'll think 'Why the hell didn't i think of this?!' It's just such a perfect melody. When nearing the ened of the song it comes back in, in full form and just blows you away again.

The perfect melody :)

I also wish i'd written Satch's Always With Me,Always With You, another great melody :D

All public domain songs and I'd have them copyrighted so I could make money each time they are played.

Saturday Night by Whigfield??????

Lol, that tune defined the bar scene back in 1995 for me. Very catchy tune though.

I chose some of the worst, trashy songs ever! Some of them are truely awful-but I bet more people have heard them than anything by Steve-ain't that a shame? Also, think of the money they made!

I really, really wish I had written "Bridge Over Troubled Water". It feels like something I would do if I had the inspiration and ability.
