Satriani and His Dad

So I went to this autograph signing in Long Island on Saturday(4/24), it was for promotion of his new album. Got some awesome art work that my brother made signed by Satriani(The Art Work was a picture of the back of the booklet if anyone was interested) and a CD. On top of that, he played a couple old songs(Flying In A Blue Dream, Summer Song, Satch Boogie, Always With You, Always With Me), and some new songs (Such as Gnaah, Up In Flames, etc). The CD skipped that he was going off which he covered up nicely with a smile and laugh.

He was really cool, he loved the art work. Talked to him for a few, my girlfriend went after me and froze un able to talk lol. I enjoyed meeting him very much.

Anyway, so here's the part that I simply thought was funny, in a non-disrespectful way, it was in a way, a cool funny. Now.. Satriani pulls up in a Ford.. But he's not driving, who was driving? His father... Haha. Now, I just thought the concept of a guitar legend still sitting shot gun in a car and being dropped off by his dad is just to much.

Now, if this guy wasn't his dad, than hey, I guess I'm laughing at nothing, but he looked like satch and was mostly bold, but if it was him, it's priceless.

Maybe I am the only one who finds it funny. I love Satch, just thought it was funny is all. -Goes Back To the Hole-

I doubt it was Joe's father.

If I remember correctly, he passed away quite some time ago - possibly around the time "Flying In A Blue Dream" was being recorded.

Peace,

Joe was in the studio recording "Flying in a blue dream" when he got the news about his father's passing. The track "Into the light" was recorded moments after Joe found out...

I'm probably imagining this, but I could have sworn I read somewhere that Satch has a 4x4

That was probably Mick Brigden, Joe's manager...

I think the song "Cryin" from the Extremist was dedicated to his dad as well...

Thats probably who it was. I didn't know Joe was the only BGM artist. I thought there were others. Thats cool, though.

Yes, according to his website it was several years ago at least. Look on the albums and you may see where it's on. I think he may be dedicated on the Extremist, as I think he died soon after FIABD, this I am not sure off. Let me get back on that, I'll ask a friend who's a big satch fan.
