I need to think of a place to put MAB. Love his picking style. As you can see, not a huge stickler for the classics like hendrix, but I feel that for such a contribution (and one way or another, depending on my mood) I like them. Zappa was good, just sometimes hard to "get" his music. Overall, I like any guitarists. But I felt Dave Weiner was definatley worthy of being on any list. He brings a new style with OnRevolute that I cant even bigin to imagine how he did it. He sounds like himself, with only the slightest, nsmall, remenicent touch of vai.

Cant tell you my top 10 right now, Would require much thinking, But I agree with kyle there, Dave Weiner is a beast, For sure in my top 3. Maybe him, Vai and Guthrie. get OnRevolute!! It will change your life!!! Or at least make you think of Dave as not "the guitarist in Vai's band" but an amazing musician on his own.

Will debate and come back later and post.and I really dig Neil ZaZa as well, and Tosin Abassi, and Jason Becker, andl. So many greats. Will post later...

John Williams the film composer and John Williams the classical guitarist are two different people.

Then my mistake, I wasn't familiar with the classical guitar player.

Hard to pick ten... for now, and in no particular order, I'm going with:

Steve Vai
Jeff Beck
Jimi Hendrix
David Gilmour
Derek Trucks
Django Reinhardt
B.B. King
Carlos Santana
Guthrie Govan
Charlie Christian

If I could include "all the Allman Brothers guitarists" I'd do that, but that's a lot of guys taking up one spot.
