Hi everybody!!!!
I'm searching for cool rock guitarists that I've never heard of before so I thought it'd be nice to have a place where people can reveal there favorite rock players (other than Vai). So post them here:D

Some of my favorite rock guitarists at the moment are: Zakk Wylde & Geoff Tyson

:D

The first one that came up to mind is Eduardo Ardanuy, from Dr. Sin

I would strongly recommend their first CD, also called Dr. Sin. For me it's one of those you listen and can't find any weak song. Great stuff !

Well, that's a 100 % true:) I know pretty many guitarists so right now I'm looking for these little hidden treasures that you might bump into if you turn a stone in da woods uppsidedown.

One of my 'unknown' faves is Jonas Tamas from Hungary. The guy kicks ass!
I guess you will dig his youtube improvisation:

what about John Petrucci and Yngwie Malmsteen?

I don´t know how much you don´t know, but you should know these two if you know Vai :).

First and Foremost....
Guthrie Govan!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yPEewaalik
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71izserFcek
His album "Erotic Cakes" is BY FAR one of the best guitar instrumental albums of ALL TIME, right next to Passion and Warfare! Not one bad song on this album, just killer! Do yourself a favor and go buy it!

also recently Steve Vai approved....
Daniele Gottardo!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aca2Ze-dUAs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glJU4wMFvdk
His debut album is now available through Vai's label, Favored Nations!

honorable mention (NOT a rock guitarists, but more a jazz/country guitarist)
Scotty Anderson

Enjoy!

I would never use the word "best" in this context but there are a few guitar players I do absolutely enjoy listening to:

Jason Becker
Alex Masi
John Petrucci
Guthrie Govan
Michael Schenker
Uli Jon Roth
Eric Johnson
Chris Poland
Michael Romeo
Shane Gibson

10 is a good number to stop at. Now, if we ever get an absolute definition of best I could probably cut that down a bit :)
