Bass guitarist and drummer for Steve Vai next band?

in a previous post I mentioned Steves lack of new stuff.I believe playing with guys like these would inspire Steve no end.

I think these two are definitely in the top 10 in their fields ie Drums and Bass in the world today.

ok one more clip.In my humble opinion(and I ´ve attended Vinnie Vinnie Colaiuta drum clinics)this guy has to be one of the best drummers on the planet today,,he plays so fast you can hardly see his hands move.

when Jean Luc Ponty heard Damien Schmitt he hired him immediately.It´s easy to see why.Amazing drummer.Steve get in touch with this guy for the next band.

Bass = Tony Franklin and his amazing fretless tone.

Drums = Mike Portnoy

Drums = Mike Portnoy is great great drummer but Id prefer Damien Schmitt because of his unusual style and versatility.Steve Vai has done all that can be done in the rock style genre.I think he should try a fusion style and a drummer like Schmitt would fit that to a "t".

Hadrien Feraud is great player.Technician par excellance but probably would not fit with the Vai style.The best band ever that Steve Vai had was Billy Sheehan,McAlpine,Keneally etc

Vai hasn't done all he could in the rock world. I would luv to see him and Sheehan do an early roth esq. album with say Mike patton on vox and bozzio on drums, Come on that would be amazing! Or Vai and claypool colaberation would be over the top.

Jeremy and Billy bring a lot to the table - I don't think Steve will move from them. Although I can see Beller getting a go on bass. He seems to be such a nice guy and Steve obviously has a lot of time for him, so we'll see.

Do you mean Billy w/ Tony and Jeremy, or Mike K w/ Philip Benoit and Mangini? I loved the Fire Garden Band.

I miss Mike Mangini on drums.

Keep BB on bass. I loved hearing his tone on the last tour.

I vote Michael Manring on bass. Incredible musician! And please, bring back Mike Mangini! I liked Vai so much better with Mangini. Jeremy is a great drummer, but to straight forward for my taste.

Billy on bass, no doubt. For drums I would pick Jeremy or Mike Mangini. For guitar and keyboards I would pick Mike Kennealy. And of course mr. Dave Weiner and Steve.
